Are you sensitive to preservatives?
– We offer you gentle alternatives for your eyes!

Dry, irritated or allergic eyes definitely get noticed – they are red, burning or watering excessively. Sometimes the eye lids swell up also. Depending on the symptoms, eye drops, eye ointments, gels or eyelid sprays that soothe and relieve or anti-allergy substances (antihistamine) are used. These products are usually applied several times a day and over an extended period of time, for example in case of dry eyes or hay fever. When used for acutely allergic eyes and especially for permanent use, eye products should be well tolerated and not additionally irritate or damage the eyes.

OmniVision eye products without preservatives are particularly well tolerated and available in single dose containers and with special application systems that keep the eye drops sterile even after opening.

Unpreserved eye drops – the gentle solution for sensitive eyes

Sufficient moisture on the eye surface is very important to our eyes. The components of the tear fluid are produced by the lacrimal gland (tear gland), other glands in the eyelids and special cells of the eye surface. They are distributed across the eye during blinking. The tear film consists of three layers – a lipid layer, an aqueous layer and a mucous layer. Various reasons can lead to the tear film rupturing or it no longer functioning properly. This results in irritation or allergic reactions, the eye dries up. One possible cause for such symptoms are preservatives contained in eye drops. Preservatives in multiple dose containers are required under law to prevent microbes from contaminating the open eye drop bottles.

With permanent use, however, preserved eye drops can irritate the tear film and the eye surface. Contact lens wearers should remove their soft contact lenses before using preserved eye drops. They should then wait a while before putting their contact lenses back in after applying the eye drops. The preservative, especially benzalkonium chloride, can accumulate in the contact lenses and lead to discolouration.

Eye drops with preservatives can be used if necessary for short-term or occasional use and for eyes that are not allergic. However, the better and safer alternative are eye drops without preservatives.

OmniVision therefore offers a series of eye products that do not require any preservation thanks to recent technological development. The innovative SafeDrop®system prevents microbes from entering the containers when used properly. Another application typ are small single dose containers, which are especially convenient on the go.

The eye products from OmniVision without preservatives are ideally matched to the needs of sensitive and allergic eyes, without compromising high application safety with extended use.

The large OmniVision product range includes eye drops in single or multiple-dose containers, eye gels, an eyelid spray and an eye ointment. The product lines HYLO-VISION® (hydrating and protective for dry eyes) Herba-Vision® (on a herbal basis for irritations) as well as Azela-Vision® and Allergo-Vision® (each for allergic reactions) and duraultra N sine (for the treatment of non-infectious or allergic conjunctivitis) all include eye products without preservation.
